Amal

Privacy policy

Effective 30 October 2026

Amal is built so that your worship stays yours. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles. Questions: apphelp.amal@gmail.com.

On your phone only

Your prayers, Quran progress, streaks, settings and location are stored only on your phone. Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your phone. Your location is never sent to us. If you allow location, Amal uses it once to find your city, rounded to about 1 km.

Friends (optional)

Only if you turn on friends, our server stores:

Friends you add see your name, whether today is done and your streaks. They never see which prayers you prayed, your Quran pages or your location. Friends are added only with your friend code.

To protect against abuse, the server keeps a one-way hash of your IP address for up to two hours to limit how many accounts or code guesses come from one place. The IP address itself is never stored.

Services we use

What we don’t do

No ads. No analytics or tracking. We don’t sell or share your data, and we don’t build profiles.

Deleting your data

You can also email us to delete your account.

Children

Amal is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone beyond what is described above. Friends is optional, and a parent can leave it off.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
